Skirting the Issue is HERE!!!!

Skirting the Issue
It is July 1st and one of our absolute favorite series has officially started....Skirting the Issue!

As sew-ers we know that a lot of what we sew we love to give away. We make quilts for graduations, clothes for our children and blankets and bibs and burp cloths for new babies. That's what we do---we give away a piece of us when we sew.

And three years ago, we came up with an idea. What if we could ask women and mothers all over the world to sew up a skirt for another girl in need of some extra mother's love? That simple question has turned into skirting the Issue---a month long series where we sew skirts for girls in Foster Care and donate them just in time for Back to School.

So, for the next month, you will see tutorials for skirts from some of our favorite people who have so graciously joined in the project. And we hope that you will join in too! All you have to do is sew a skirt and donate it to a local Foster Care Agency (or you can send it to us....). That's it. And we will love you forever. We promise.

Starting tomorrow, we will open up a linky party on Project Sewn where you can add your skirts that you have made for the project. And there will be prizes along the way.

The Babylock family has so graciously donated The Elizabeth to one of you fantastic sewists who donates a skirt to the project. They feel as strongly about giving back to the community and we are so grateful to them. Thank you Babylock!!!!

And if you want to know more about the project...you can head HERE to see a video that a local group filmed about the project 2 years ago, but you can see how much we really do love this project. (Just please ignore my hair----and realize that it was two years ago...)
