Adventure Inspiration from Kelly at Handmade Boy

Hello! It's Kelly from Handmade Boy. I'm here today to share with you one of my adventure sews! One of the advantages of being a seamstress is being able to create crazy fun theme clothes for my kids. I don't do it for all adventures, occasions, and events, but here and there, I do and it's fun!

Thomas is the usual recipient of themed clothes. Mostly, because he is younger and lets me do it. LOL He does enjoy it though and on his own will play up dressing into a theme if he knows we are doing something special. For example, when he found out we were going fishing with his grandparents, he HAD to wear his "camping clothes." Not that we went camping, but they had a picture that symbolized fishing on them. So, logically, those were the clothes he must wear.

Last summer we went to a hot air balloon festival. Earlier in the year, I had made him a fun hot air balloon tee from some fabric I was hoarding from Peek-a-Boo Fabrics. It was the perfect shirt for this special adventure!

He was less than thrilled to take time away from exploring all the events going on to take pictures for me. LOL The things bloggers request from their kids.

There are so many different things you can create to make an outing extra special. A custom piece of clothing is like your own personal souvenir for your adventure! Every time your child wears his adventure clothes, he will remember the fun he had on that special trip.

If you want to check out more of our adventures, this post was a great one! Thomas and his friend went on a great treasure hunt in the woods. They had so much fun!

A huge adventure recently for Handmade Boy has been the release of The Fighter Tee.

The Fighter Tee is a pattern I designed with the help from Love Notions for drafting to raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital. You can read more about my pattern here.
