Project Watercolor Beach with Saskia: Abby's Marigold Pants

My name is Saskia and I am the designer behind The Wolf and the Tree. I was born in Germany where I learned how to sew using paper patterns - with newspaper and needle point tracing wheel on the kitchen floor - under the guidance of my mother.

I hand drafted my first clothing patterns when I was in High School. My course work in college using CAD software made the switch from hand drafting to precision digital drafting quite seamless. After my children were born I made them everything from sleep sacks to snow boots and winter coats.
My dearest sewing machine is an early 1970s Elna, gifted to me from my children’s honorary great-grandmother, and named in her memory - Peggy. I am a firm believer that everything beyond the old fashioned straight and zig zag stitches is beautiful but not a necessity. Don’t be discouraged if your machine lacks features that the modern machines have - you can create lasting beauty with anything, as long as you put care and love into the making of your garments.

We strive to provide ‘Patterns for your Family’. Our designs allow you to create straight forward wardrobe staples as well as more elaborate eye catchers, all of which you are sure to adore - because you made it and it is made to fit you.

Inspo: I wanted to make Abby's Marigold Pants to be palazzo reminiscent pants that are comfortable yet gorgeous to wear. The optional side ruffle is just like a petal of beautiful Marigolds - which are in season right now! The tie band lends a bit more of sailor-esque allure to these beach and plaza pants.

Project Watercolor Beach is a collection of 10 patterns full of options and details, perfect for summer fun for both boys and girls.

These 10 patterns come in tops and bottoms, wovens and knits, layering pieces, separates, dresses, swimwear, and more!  The patterns have a wide selection of sizes available, from newborn through teen.

Come back tomorrow to meet the next designer and get a sneak peek of some more patterns!

And be sure to follow Project Run & Play on Instagram for a chance to win Project Watercolor Beach before you can buy it!!
