Time to Vote: The top 5!!!

Our judges have deliberated long and hard over the weekend....but they have come up with a top five to vote on to find our last contestants for Season 7 of Project Run and Play.  And yes, you read that right....we are now looking for our top 2 to compete in Season 7.  One of our designers had to postpone until next season, so we are going to take the top two vote-getters to join in the fun!

So, now it's your turn to decide.  Scroll through all the sewing goodness below and then vote in the upper right-hand corner.  Remember, it is one vote per IP address (computer) so make it count!  (Although you have a very hard decision on your hands....they all did such a spectacular job!)  The voting will end on Wednesday night at 8 pm (MST) and we will announce all the designers on Thursday.  See you then!

A Jennuine Life--The Matinee Dress

I'm Jenn and I am so honored and excited to have been selected to be in the running for the last spot in this season's competition of Project Run & Play!  The dress I submitted for consideration is one I made for my older daughter Arden to highlight the graceful line of her back.  I drafted my bodice using a basic sloper I've used many times and knew fit well.  I drew the front with a pseudo bateau neckline to follow her collarbone giving no clue of the plunging open back.  A simple sash at the empire waist buttoning in the back helps keep it closed.  I think pinafores and open back dresses on little girls are so sweet! I have more pictures and a tutorial for this dress at A Jennuine Life, come and check it out!

Lexi Made-- Stripes, Floral & Lace

I am so excited to be chosen as one of the top 5 contestants for a spot in season 7 Project Run and Play! The outfit I submitted for my audition is a little peplum jacket, floral ruffle sleeve tee and lace overlay shorts. I just love this outfit! I think it suits my twin daughters personalities perfectly even though you only see one of them in the picture :) To make all of the articles of clothing I used pieces from my daughters closets as guides for fit. I loved playing around with fabric choices and styling the finished look. You can find more pictures of this outfit here. And if you want to check out any of the other items I have made you can go here. I am still pretty new to sewing and the sewing blog world so there isn't a whole lot to look at just yet ;) Thanks for this opportunity PR&P!

Sew Pony--The Tinny Tree Dress
Hi, my name is Suz and I blog at sewpony.  I am so excited to potentially be a part of the next season of Project Run and Play!  I wanted to make a landscape print dress for my daughter, Isabella.  After finding this beautiful "tree" fabric (as my daughter calls it), I decided to join in with the "Flip this pattern" series and modify StraightGrain's Tinny pattern, as it was just the design I had in mind for this fabric.  The original pattern features sleeves a shorter hemline, collar and an invisible zip closure at the back.  I modified the pattern by omitting the collar and sleeves (and drafting sleeve facings), lengthening the hemline, adding a neon pink cross grain ribbon tie and finally by swapping the invisible zipper for a very visible exposed metal zipper.  Isabella loves her Tinny Tree Dress and so do I!  To read more about it and to see all links to pattern, series and fabric, please come and visit Sew Pony in Melbourne, Australia!!  Thank you:)

Craftstorming--Wedding Blazer
Wedding Blazer

I'm Laura and I blog over at Craftstorming. I made this blazer for my eldest son Casper to wear to a family wedding and I think it's my favourite thing I've made since I started sewing a little over two years ago. As I normally sew for my two sons I am always looking for interesting details and fun ways to personalise a garment for them, such as making labels with their photo on or branding elastic using transfer paper. This blazer has a lot of details that I love, such as the front darts, side panels and welt pockets, while the alphabet lining and rainbow dots in the pockets meant Casper was excited about wearing it too. The outer fabric means it's possible to dress this blazer up for a wedding or down with jeans and it co-ordinates with almost everything. You can read more about the blazer here and see all of my previous sewing projects here.

If Only They Would Nap--Summer Brights

  DSC_0540
Hey sewing friends! I'm Jess, and you can find me sewing and blogging over at If Only They Would Nap. As you can see in my original post, this outfit was designed to recreate one I saw at the Gap. I've really been digging the bright neons that have been popular this summer, so I was excited to incorporate that into this look. It met the comfort criteria for my five-year-old, a must in our house, but also meets the mama style factor. The sweatshirt and shorts were both self-drafted patterns, and the button-up was sized down from a man's shirt. You can find the tutorial for how to size down a shirt and more pictures and details on this look - including the inspiration photo - when you pop over to my blog!

  5. Wow, so hard to choose! I can't wait for another season!

One season I would love to see contestants with only sons compete. Like Melly Sews, Craftstorming, Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy, etc.

    1. That's a great idea. I would love to see what they came up with. I have a nearly-four-year old boy and twin 19 month old boys. It's hard to find inspiration in sewing for boys. :)
