Pantone Party: Sweeter Than Cupcakes X Elliott Berman Textiles

Today We are honored to have Courtney with us from Sweeter than Cupcakes! Here is what she had to say about her Viva Magenta Look!

Viva magenta is described by Pantone as “brave and fearless, a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration.” We definitely tried to inject some brave, joyous, optimism in our looks and certainly in our photoshoot. When the abstract print viscose challis arrived from Elliott Berman Textiles, I wished it was for me! This fabric was a dream to work with and so soft on my daughter’s sensitive skin. The magenta plays well with hot pink, navy and white.

My youngest daughter has a much loved square neck dress from Target that was getting too short, so I recreated it with the Squared Away Dress pattern. The result looks drastically different from the original pattern, but you can see from the altered pattern pieces below, the changes weren’t dramatic. I created a long puff sleeve by straightening the sides, spreading sections of the pattern piece, and adding ¾” to the sleeve head. I lengthened the front and back bodice and added width at the center fold to create gathers at the neckline. Through my initial trial version, I discovered I could safely omit the back closure. The bottom skirt is a gathered rectangle.

With the leftover fabric, I was able to make an Evergreen Skirt for my oldest daughter. The bottom tier is cut between the ruffle and short tier height to accommodate the minimal yardage I had left.

Teens and pre-teens are hard to please, but these looks were a success. My youngest wore her dress to a Daddy/Daughter Dance, so it must have passed the test. Head to my blog for a few more photos.

Thank you to Elliot Berman Textiles for Sponsoring Pantone Party 2023!

Pantone Party: That's Sew Kari X Raspberry Creek Fabrics

Kari always makes super bright, fun outfits for her girls and we just knew that she would be a perfect fit for the Viva Magenta Pantone Party!

Project Run & Play Pantone Party is one of my favorite projects of the year!  This year’s color, Viva Magenta, is bold and fun.  Raspberry Creek Fabrics has been a favorite fabric shop of my girls for the past several years and they were so excited to be able to shop for this project.

My girls are super different so we chose coordinating fabrics, but tailored their selections to reflect their individual styles.  My oldest requested the Becky Skirt and the Rimini Romper (turned top) again.  We found an amazing Magenta Modal Spandex Jersey Knit that is so super soft.

My youngest is obsessed with workout wear (perfect for her cheer and tumbling).  For the bottom, she’s sporting the Rocky Shore Tights with the cutest detailing at the bottom.  In the custom printing section of Raspberry Creek Fabrics, I found Geometric Mosaic in Reddish Purple/Magenta and printed it at the smallest scale (12.0) on Athletic Knit. Her top is the racerback solid bikini top from the Viridian Suit, without the elastic and fully reversible.  The reverse side is the Magenta Modal Spandex Jersey from big sis.

Pantone Party: Mamemimo X Minerva

Today we are excited to welcome Monica from Mamemimo to the Pantone Party!

Thank you very much for inviting me again to the super event of the year. The Pantone Party is one of my favorite projects and the color chosen for this year, Viva Magenta, looks spectacular to me: vibrant, energetic, vigorous, brave, and optimistic.

My youngest daughter loves pink and red in all its shades so I knew right away that the outfit I would sew would be for her.

Project Run and Play Pantone Party

Choosing fabrics from Minerva's extensive catalog was no easy task. I started by choosing a plain Minerva Core activewear lycra in a deep magenta color, then I found an exquisitely patterned Art Gallery Fabrics jersey knit fabric that I ended up pairing with a grey sweatshirt to "muffle" a little of the burst of color. Working with these 2 high-quality fabrics has been a dream.

Project Run and Play with Minerva fabrics

As always, for my little girl, I choose knit patterns that are basic enough to sew over and over again. Patterns that allow her to play freely and not have to worry about staining or the garment not being comfortable. I found the FRANCES leggings, RITA dress and GEORGE sweatshirt to be a perfect combination.

Bansky Inspired girls outfit

For the photos I was inspired by a famous BANKSY artwork "Girl With Balloon".
We are super happy with the result. What do you think?

We here at Project Run and Play think it is AWESOME!!!

Thank you so much to Minerva for this beautiful fabric!

Pantone Party: Sew Sophie Lynn X Raspberry Creek Fabrics

Today it’s Tami's Stop on our Pantone Party tour! Check out these stellar beach looks!

I love the PRP Pantone Party and this year Viva Magenta is bringing the FUN! I worked with Raspberry Creek Fabrics for a beach look that is full of sunshine.

Swim Sewing patterns

I love to sew swimwear and PRP has some of my favorite patterns to work with. I used the Viridian Swimsuit, Reef Beach Rashie, and Cancun Coverup for this look.

Pantone Party 2023

We went bold with a lipstick pink two-piece swimsuit. I used this groovy 60’s floral on both swim knit and double gauze for coordinating coverups. We are all about the retro feel of this floral and the many shades of pink made it perfect with the solid swimsuit.

Pantone Party: Made of Starlite X Style Maker Fabrics

To finish out the week, here is Jenny of Made of Starlite with her Pantone Party look, sponsored by StyleMaker Fabrics!

Project Run and Play's annual Pantone Party is always one of my favorite blog tours! I'm a huge color palate nerd, and I totally geek out about what crazy color Pantone chooses as the Color of the Year. 😄 If you've stopped by my Instagram, you've probably noticed that my daughter and I are huge fans of all things pink, which means we were super pumped about the super saturated Vivid Magenta!

I was soooooooo excited to play with these *beautiful* fabrics from Style Maker Fabrics!!! They made it super easy to find something that matched the color with a special tab labeled Viva Magenta. There were so many amazing choices, it was super hard to choose!

I've been dying to get my hands on some of the cotton sateen designed by Ruby Star Society. This stunning fabric exceeded my sky high expectations! It's satin-y and drapes so well and just the right weight and did you know it is a whopping 108" WIDE?? I only needed a yard and a half for this cute dress AND lining for our coat!

For the dress, I tried a new to me pattern from the shop: the Infinite A-line Dress. Where has this pattern been hiding?! It's so cute! Great fit, so many options! My only disappointment is that it only goes up to size 8. But she's still a size 6, so we have a couple more years left to get plenty of mileage out of it!

I did hack the dress for a zipper, because I absolutely despise buttons. She can't dress herself, the buttons always pop off, and the button holes constantly come unraveled, leaving stray threads hanging off your adorable creation! Not cool buttonholes, not cool. 😑

The first fabric I spotted scrolling the Style Maker website was this gorgeous Raspberry Boiled Wool. It was begging to become a statement coat!

I started with the Woodland Wanderer Coat. I probably should have slimmed it down a touch, but I wanted to make sure it would fit over all her super fuzzy sweaters! I cropped it to be the same length in the bodice as the Noel Dress, and then I added a super full 3/4 circle skirt from another pattern I already owned. And of course it has inseam pockets! Can't have a coat without pockets!

We kept the hood and lined it with super soft white fur from my scrap box (which is taking over my sewing room!! Send help!) and I opted for snaps on the inside rather than buttons. (See above for button rant.)

We are both just SO thrilled with how these came out! Thanks Style Maker Fabrics for bringing to life all of our wildest Viva Magenta dreams!!

See you Monday for another week of incredible Viva Magenta designs by more incredibly talented past Project Run and Play Designers!

Pantone Party: It's Liesel X KnitFabric

Today we have Liesel sharing her AMAZING Viva Magenta looks! She used fabrics from KnitFabric.com for her Pantone Party 2023 kids clothes.

Project Run and Play Rimini Romper

Viva Magenta is such a bold color, I had to make a statement piece! The Rimini Romper has been a favorite, and we had to fit one more in, before the size chart doesn't work for us anymore. The full head to toe magenta look is so fun!

Viva Magenta Rimini Romper

The brother sister set was fun for these two. I didn't want to use only solids, so these beautiful coordinates turned into a sweater and dress duo, with the Viva Magenta vibe.

Wow! These were the perfect choices for such beautiful fabric! Be sure to check out Liesel's blog to see to see what else she made! A BIG thank you to KnitFabric.com for being a Pantone Party sponsor!

Pantone Party: Life Sew Savory X Raspberry Creek Fabrics

Today we are excited to welcome Emily from Life Sew Savory! She sewed a Viva Magenta outfit for her daughter! WOW! The bold hue really POPS!

Viva Magenta from Project Run and Play
I made my daughter stand in the snow for these photos, but I thought the contrast of the colors was amazing. The Viva Magenta color is gorgeous this year and so full of life. Raspberry Creek hit this color out of the park as well and the fabrics were so inspiring to work with.

Life Sew Savory Pantone Party

My daughter plays hard, but is ALL GIRL too! I think this outfit is the best of both worlds. A practical t-shirt {the Easel Tee} and cardigan {the Blank Canvas Cardigan} paired with the most adorable jumper {D'Anjou Dress} is the perfect mix, just like Rose.

Blank Canvas Cardigan in Viva Magenta

I ended up adding some embroidery to the front of the dress. Check out the post on my site to find out more on this added detail {it involves sewing way too late at night!} I had so much fun sewing up this outfit and look forward to lots of wear from this adorable outfit in the most lovely color.

Thank you so much to Emily for sharing her Viva Magenta look. (As a bonus we have to point out how awesome it is that she already had Viva Magenta shoes!)
Also, a big thank you to
Raspberry Creek Fabrics for being a Pantone Party 2023 sponsor! They have so many great Viva Magenta options (we even designed some specifically for Project Run and Play!)

Pantone Party: Sincerely, Shantelle X Art Gallery Fabrics

Lakeisha from Sincerely, Shantelle sewed some incredible, classy teen looks for our Viva Magenta Pantone Party! You are going to love this!!!

For this year’s Pantone Party: Viva Magenta, I set out to create looks that encapsulated some of the color’s statement, as well as my daughter’s flourishing personality as she’s moving from childhood into her teenage years. “Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration…” She is not usually one for bright colors, especially pink, but she agreed to give it a try & we found the perfect compromise with some of Art Gallery’s prints and love the looks.

Pantone Party Viva Magenta

It was my first time sewing with voile and Art Gallery’s was incredible to work with in “A New Grid” for the blouse and pleated skirt. We carried over “A New Grid” and paired it with their “Irregularity Magenta” cotton for her new Van Gogh Bag. The final pullover was created with their jersey knit solids in Hot Pink with accents of Strawberry Kiss, Graphite, and Tin Tin, which were all colors pulled out of A New Grid.

Side note: my kids won’t wear woven tops. They don’t like fussing with buttons or zippers…but my daughter is head over heels in love with this one. Maybe voile will become a new fabric of choice for us ;)

Pantone Party: Made by Kates X Art Gallery Fabric

Katie from Made by Kates is kicking off Week 2 of our Pantone Party! And the looks she created are fantastic! Here is what Katie had to say about her looks!

The Pantone Party is one of our favorite projects to do!  My daughter and I anxiously await the new color each year and we were excited to pick out fabrics in Viva Magenta!  Art Gallery Fabrics never disappoint and they had so many beautiful options.

My daughter has been hinting for a quilted jacket and I knew I could hack the Woodland Wanderer coat into just what she wanted.  Art Gallery is known for gorgeous quilting fabrics so we chose 2 from the Bloom line and quilted the fabrics with a cotton batting.

We picked out a coordinating knit and rayon for an Evergreen Skirt and Chromium Cropped tee and it’s an outfit she loves!

Thank you again to Art Gallery Fabrics for sponsoring the Pantone Party 2023!
