Project Watercolor Beach with Ajaire: Chromium Cropped Hoodie & Ultramarine Cover-Up

I'm Ajaire from Call Ajaire and I'm super excited about collaborating with these amazing designers for this new collection!  The last time I was here was in 2018 for Season 15 and there's so much that has happened since then.  We moved into a new home with a large property last summer and thank goodness we have all of this space to explore during this stay at home order.  I was also actually pregnant during Season 15 and had our second daughter in the fall of 2018 so I took time off from releasing patterns to focus on the pregnancy and baby.  I was still designing, however because I make all of the clothes our girls wear so there's always something for inspiration.  For this collaboration I used two of those previously drafted patterns and beefed them up to finally get them ready for release.  If you follow me on Instagram (@callajaire), then I'm sure you've seen iterations of both designs over the past two to three years.

The first is the Chromium Cropped Hoodie.  I designed this years ago so Bean would have something to throw over her Crossroads dresses and it's basically the style she wore for a solid year: a sleeveless plain front Crossroads Dress with a Cropped Hoodie on top.  Ears were added two Halloweens ago so she could be a kitty haha.  I love the cropped look, but added a full length (to hip) view which is a more unisex shape last fall so she could have a sweatshirt to wear that wasn't cropped.  The vented hem view was added for this collaboration to give an extra option for wearing over leggings (covering the bum) and it's quickly becoming a favorite.

The second pattern I contributed is the Ultramarine Cover-Up, which was also designed years ago, but never released.  This was actually where the neckline and raglan style of my Raglan Party Dress was first conceived, but I decided at the time to make it more of a fitted party dress over a cover-up and the design took off from there.  I always came back to the Ultramarine Cover-Up because I designed it for wovens AND knits which means it can be used with so many fun fabrics.  To get the design ready for release I added an oversized hood which is perfect for throwing over some crazy beach hair on a windy day.  I also added options for cinching the waist which don't use elastic (and are actually my favorite!) since I know it can be tough to get your hands on elastic right now.  There is always the option for no cinching at the waist as well and I know first hand that view A without the hood and with no cinching is the perfect pattern for cozy sleepshirts made in a variety of fabrics.

Both patterns are sizes nb-16 years, including the elusive sizes 9 and 11, so they're great tween patterns to have in your collection.  I can't wait for you to get yours hands on them!

Project Watercolor Beach is a collection of 10 patterns full of options and details, perfect for summer fun for both boys and girls.

These 10 patterns come in tops and bottoms, wovens and knits, layering pieces, separates, dresses, swimwear, and more!  The patterns have a wide selection of sizes available, from newborn through teen.

Come back tomorrow to meet the next designer and get a sneak peek of some more patterns!
