We can hardly believe it is the final week of Mini Season 3 already! For our final round we have Elizabeth and Saskia...
We are very excited to welcome Elizabeth back to Project Run and Play! In Season 14 she sewed for her younger siblings, but now she is married with children of her own to sew for! How exciting!!!
Hello! I’m Elizabeth of The College Seamstress. I was previously on PRP way back in 2017 for season 14 and I am so excited to be here for a mini season! I have now been sewing for nearly two decades! Since my last appearance on Project Run and Play I got married, have two kids under two and a half, and became a SAHM. I even sewed my own wedding dress which is probably my favorite project of all time! I have a 2 year old daughter and a 9 month old son and I love making clothes for them in the limited time I have to sew. My daughter loves wearing her mama made clothes and now thinks that mama makes all her clothes!
When I’m not sewing, I enjoy baking sourdough bread and even started selling it in local Farmers Markets and from my kitchen to local customers. I also enjoy being outside with my kids, going for walks, and spending time with my family.
You can follow me on Instagram HERE where I share more of my sewing projects, bread baking, and life as a mom.
Saskia from The Wolf and the Tree joined Project Run and Play during Season 21.
My name is Saskia and I am the designer behind The Wolf and the Tree. I was born in Germany where I learned how to sew using paper patterns - with newspaper and needle point tracing wheel on the kitchen floor - under the guidance of my mother.
I drafted my first clothing patterns when I was in High School. After my children were born I made them everything from self drafted sleep sacks to snow boots and winter coats.
My dearest sewing machine is an early 1970s Elna, gifted to me from my children's honorary great-grandmother, and named in her memory - Peggy. I am a firm believer that everything beyond the old fashioned straight and zig zag stitches is beautiful but not a necessity. Don't be discouraged if your machine lacks features that the modern machines have - you an create lasting beauty with anything, as long as you put care and love into the making of your garments.
The last years have put some things on hold and I am happy to get fully immersed again and get creative and see creativity in others! I am so excited to be part of this challenge and for the fun of imagining and making to start for this mini season!
We can't wait to see what these talented ladies create this week! Don't forget to join in on our sewalong to win prizes as well! Get the details HERE!
In the first corner, we have Amanda from Season 24!
I’m Amanda, or DerivingMommyhood over on Instagram where I share my sewing life. I am a mother of four that up until this year I have homeschooled. I started sewing in college but really dove in after my second was born and I had left behind my life as a math teacher. My mom sewed for me growing up and did alterations for seemingly everyone I knew, but my path involved following lots of bloggers and learning by trial and error (mostly error in the beginning). I needed a creative outlet while I was home with young children to show something for my day, because everyone was always going to be hungry again even if I cooked all day and the house would just get messy again but a dress stayed a dress forever. I moved to Ireland with my little family for 5 years and did so much more sewing over lockdowns. Now I’m back in my native Florida and finding the time to sew between a million kids activities and helping to run a nonprofit.
And in the second corner, we have Liesel from Season 16!
Hi, I'm Liesel and I blog at It's Liesel. I'm so excited to be a part of this mini season on PRP! This is one of the best communities in the online sewing world, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
My parents taught me to sew when I was a girl, but I hated every minute of it. Shortly after my second daughter was born, I became a stay at home mom, and had time to find a way to express my creativity. I enjoyed following several blogs, and started using lots of DIY tutorials to teach myself how to sew things, from baby leggings to carseat covers and more. I soon discovered PDF patterns, and went crazy using them to learn new techniques, and hone my skill! Sewing children’s clothing is my passion.
I have six children. My oldest two are girls, ages 15, and 13, then three boys, 10, 8, and 4, and a 2 year old daughter. We homeschool them, which is always fun and chaotic! I have happily lived in Kansas most of my life. My husband is a huge support, and I am thankful for him. We have been married for almost 17 years.
If you want to follow me on instagram, I post my sewing and personal things there: @itsliesel
We can't wait to see what they create this week! Let's get ready to rummbbbbblllllle!
Are you ready for the first round of Mini Season 3? We can't wait to see what our designers have made!
Today we have our official introductions for Round 1. Please make sure to follow these talented ladies to see all of the awesome things they create!
In this corner we have Kelly from Season 23!
Hi, everyone! I’m Kelly from Sew a Little Seam and I’m so excited to be a part of Project Run & Play! My sewing journey started when I was little and I would sit and watch my mom sew my Halloween costumes or dresses. I started sewing when my son was a toddler, and after my daughter was born my passion for it really took off. I started Sew a Little Seam in 2015 and released my first pattern, the Ollie Bomber Jacket, a year later. I have so much fun creating for myself and my family, and seeing others create with my patterns is such an amazing feeling!
When I'm not sewing I love camping with my family. Living in the Northeastern U.S., we can be in the mountains or at the ocean in just a short drive. I also enjoy horseback riding, although I don't ride as often as I used to. My horse enjoys a more leisurely life of taking my kids around the ring now.
In the next corner we have Lakeisha from Season 25!
Hi y’all! I’m sew excited to be back for this mini season of PRP! For those who don’t know me yet, I’m Lakeisha. I’ve been sewing for my husband, myself, and our two kids (7 & 14) since 2017 and experimenting with pattern work off and on throughout. I always enjoy making clothing that reflects who they are (and what they like) in the moment. I spent many years pattern testing and strike-off sewing, then decided to get more serious in my endeavors, so I enrolled in a community college fashion design program in the fall of 2021 to pursue an associates degree in technical apparel (which I am still currently attending). This takes up a lot of my time these days, but I still love sewing for fun, nonetheless. I look forward to showing y’all what I’ve created this season and can’t wait to see the inspiring designs of the other creators!
Hi! My name is Nastasia Pilar Morris and I’m thrilled to be a designer for Season 26 of Project Run and Play! I started sewing in college, about 13 years ago, and was hooked. Now several years and four kids later, I’ve really found my passion for sewing and design. Although I’m working on sewing my own wardrobe, my four children are my inspiration and I mostly sew for them. I also have a small shop sewing and selling clothing and accessories at local markets.
We live in fabulous Las Vegas, NV. My husband and I are both from here and although we moved away for college and a short time after, we are happy to be back raising our kids here. I teach dance part time and love being a dance mom to my three daughters. Over the years the amount of time I spent sewing varied. However, when the pandemic hit I found myself at home needing a creative outlet, so I really dove into sewing again. I even switched to projector sewing where I project the patterns onto my fabric, which saves me so much time! I’ve dabbled with drafting and design over the years and am excited to have this opportunity to really get serious and show you what I love! I still remember being in awe of designs from the very first season of Project Run and Play. I love this creative community and look forward to sharing my designs with you. You can find me on Instagram @poshpilar, Facebook and blogging about my designs over at poshpilar.blogspot.com. Happy Sewing!
Hi everyone! I am Marieke and here is a little more about me.
Well, I'll try to be short and to the point. :-) I am from the Netherlands and I am married to a German, Stephan, who is also my best friend. We are having four kids; two boys: Robbert and Lennart and two girls: Katharina and Josephine.
I am born deaf, but I am an excellent lipreader and my hearing aids are as important as airpods are for some other people. :-) I prefer to joke about it, but to be honest, it actually isn't a joke of course. I also have tinnitus and hyperacusis and it took me quite some years to deal with it, and some days are still bad.
Anyways, because of the different countries we where studying/ working, my husband and I had a long distance relationship for many years. Of course this wasn't ideal when the kids came, so 10 years ago we decided to move to Germany all together. My husband finished his study, found a job and I became a staying at home mom.
I have absolutely underestimated the emigration. Not only because of living far away from my family and friends, but also the differences in culture. This changed when I found a job and slowly felt at home.
Well, my job was gone because of the moving, my youngest was born, the kids had their school, sports and friends, I was done styling the house and now I wanted to do something else too.
I started baking, decorating cakes, crafted, made yearbooks, photoboards, did a juggle course, started decorating the house more and annoying my husband for more projects in the house; we dealt with some major problems as water damages, car accidents, sewage system problems. I started gardening, crafted more, did some handlettering, I am even an official Wedding Planner and I joined all the school activities from the kids.
Till.. on the 27th of March 2017, I was walking in the shoppingmall with my youngest laying in the stroller and I saw a sewing shop.
To be short, I spontaneously bought a sewing machine, came home, plugged it in and I never turned it off.
I started with sewing some straight stitches on a kitchen towel, zig zagged our curtains and made a pillowcase. I started watching YouTube videos, reading blogs and I was hooked!
And what I will never forget is the day I thought: "ow well, maybe I can look on Facebook and check if there is a group with people who are sewing too......." I am still laughing, because since that day, my life absolutely changed!
I became a pattern tester quite quickly, finished my Teaching and Advanced Teaching Course at the Burda Academy, started writing blogs for other designers and I just found 'something' I absolutely love to do.
In the meanwhile, two years ago now, we moved back to the Netherlands and again we had to start over..
Nowadays, I am doing what I love the most! I am an Admin at the tester groups and design for Ellie and Mac, I still do some pattern testing, but only for designers I admire ( Ann from Designer Stitch for example I love her!) Some German designers as Viva la Mila (who I admire!) Indie designers and of course all from Project Run and Play! I love the whole concept so much and I am sewing complete capsules in, what is feeling like, 1 test, lol.
I learned so many from testing! Not only different techniques, but also different ways of thinking, how to deal with...And the most important: people. I got to know so many beautiful persons over the whole world and I made a lot of friends. Some I meet, some I will meet and when that's not possible, a pm or a zoom meeting is always possible!
Important to say is that I am lucky to have a family that is supporting me, not only for modeling for pictures, but also for missing the cakes and cookies, since I am baking a lot less, which I know it isn't appreciated that much..lol.
I am not saying that all the problems are solved, I always will be deaf, the tinnitus will never leave, but I am looking forward for every day I can learn and do a little more and I hope people are getting to know and enjoy my designs.
Hey, it's me, Elizabeth Taylor-Olding of August Sewing. I live in Minnesota, but I'm originally from the Golden State of California. Regardless of my location, I'm surrounded by cuteness at all times.
I have three children, two boys who are out of the house already and a tween daughter, Lark. I refer to our family as the Olding Creative Team. The roles are determined by skill set. Me, well, I'm mostly making and organizing, and buying stuff. My husband, Robert is President in charge of making taking pretty pictures. Lark is the idea girl, who likes to try new styles and has the face of an angel. The team is rounded out by our Fu, the occasionally disgruntled, but mostly willing supervisor, and Georgette, heart of gold, team player, excellent bowl cleaning.
I started sewing a couple of years ago. My entry into the craft world was first working on crochet and trying to learn knitting. However, after having too many scarves and cowls even for someone who lives in Minnesota, I had thought maybe I'd try to crochet bags. All I needed was a sewing machine to making linings. And so it goes, I found sewing and fabric more satisfying due to the speed in which you can turn the raw materials into fruition.
I've been enamored with the sewing community, the ingenuity and hive-mindedness. I enjoy the machines and other accouterments required for sewing...making things that fit my beautiful creature, Lark really well....and finding fabric treasures. I sewed and loved; and I loved sewing. And eventually my love of fabric became overwhelming.
If only I could sew every lovely piece of fabric myself, but alas, I only have two hands and 24 hours in a day. Obviously, I needed a fabric shop, Goldie Olding Fabrics. Owning a fabric shop has brought me joy. Imagine you could send all your sweethearts (AKA customers) all of your favorite things (in this case fabric), so they could turn it into something special, unique, loved, and useful. That's my life!
I've kept up with Project Run + Play! for a while on Facebook. The challenges are what piqued my interest. Being locked into a specific theme can actually help the creative process. Indeed, there is value in a shared sewing experience, and in the end, seeing the variations on a theme. My personal style is simple, natural fibers mostly, but I love something weird, vintage, or deadstock.
"A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds" - Mark Twain.
This is a phrase that has been with me since the day I decided to create my first sewing kits. Since then I keep coming up with crazy ideas that I want to fulfil.
I’m Anita Thadani, fashion designer and pattern drafter. Of Indian origin, born in Valencia, almost Murcian and a little Catalan.
Torment of ideas and contrasts. Mother of two little crazy girls, who, together with my chief cyclist, make me see life in a bright colour.
My family is my base camp, my mix of contrasts, which has led me to develop a minimalist and functional style.
I first started sewing and designing when I was a teenager, but left it after a while. After I moved to Barcelona, I bought my first own sewing machine and started sewing again. I started altering my clothes, and then sewing for my first baby girl, and did not stop. Sewing calms me down and makes my happy and proud.
My blog, DIY with Manneken, comes from my interest in Fashion, Design and Pattern Making.
Here I share and will continue to share everything I know about this world and what I learn along the way.
Hi, I’m Lakeisha! I blog over at Sincerely, Shantelle and my handle is some variant of "sincerelyshantelle" in other social media spaces. (Shantelle is my middle name, in case you were wondering). I’m married to the love of my life and we have two brilliant children who are 5 and 12. You may (or may not) have seen them all featured in my sews over the past couple of years as I’ve sewn strikes and tested patterns for multiple companies. My sewing journey has been an interesting one. I was off and on from late 2011 to 2016, and it was then that I discovered the online sewing world. I quietly lurked for a bit longer, working on small things here or there, until I became a pattern tester for Ellie and Mac at the end of 2018, and the rest is history! It’s rare that you find me not sewing these days. It’s my therapy, my idea of a fun time, & my escape from other grown up responsibilities, haha! I have never seen myself as a "designer" per se, simply more of a joyful creator. Needless to say, I am beyond thrilled and honored to have been invited to participate in Season 25 of PR&P! I can't wait to show you what I've come up with and am looking forward to all the things I'll learn and see along the way!
My name’s Milja and I love sewing and all things vintage! I am a pattern designer for Vintage Little Lady and owner/designer of Ivana May Timeless.
I am from Serbia – a small, beautiful country in Europe. I moved to the USA 10 years ago. My family is my everything. My husband Troy is my best friend and the biggest supporter in my adventures. We currently live in Bastrop, Texas. We are pursuing our dreams while raising our amazing daughter Ivana May.
I have always been interested in the arts. I have just always known that I am happiest when I am creating something.
In 2018 I decided to learn to sew. It became a passion and love from the first moment. It still amazes me that I can turn beautiful fabrics and thread into something timeless.
In 2019 I was lucky enough to be chosen to become a pattern tester for several great pattern companies from the USA, Australia and Canada. I tested many amazing patterns and created lifelong friendships. The same year I started my own business in designing and creating unique, handmade girls dresses.
Sewing has become so many things for me: a hobby, a craft, a passion and an education. But the deeper I got into the sewing and designing the more confidence I gained, I figured out who I wanted to be, and gained a new perspective and a new goal.
2020 was the year that everything changed. I became a Pattern Designer for Vintage Little Lady. That was my dream job! I get to create patterns for this truly awesome Company and be part of a really supportive and inspiring group. Due to the nature of creating sewing patterns, no day is ever the same. Every week or two my focus changes, as I progress through the process – from initial design, pattern draft, sample, pattern testing etc. I am definitely never bored! Patterns take a long time to create and get out into the world, so you really want to make something that people are going to love.
I am honored , thankful and beyond excited to be part of Project Run and Play Season 25. I have been a fan for a long time. Come join me on my new sewing adventures!
Hi I'm Whitney from SewWhit Designs. I'm a mom to five amazing kiddos and wife to a great guy who supports me in all my crazy endeavors. I'm a third generation sewist. My earliest sewing memories include making Barbie doll clothes with my grandma when I was about seven.
I have a bachelors degree from BYU in Family and Consumer Science Education with an emphasis in Clothing and Textiles. I have taught middle, high school and beginning college lab sewing. I've have also worked doing custom bridal (including my own wedding dress), swim and dancewear. In 2006 I worked as a production/design assistant for Shade Clothing. I took a bit of a break when I had my 5 kids (in six years). Its finally time for me to jump back into the sewing world.
I am a rule follower and I like to do things the "proper way" so going from a traditional seamstress, using proper tailoring techniques, to an "anything goes," digital PDF patterns, cut with a projector and rotary blade, sewist has been of a bit of an internal struggle for me. But, the flexibility of doing things in a new way, has been fun for me to embrace. I thoroughly enjoy testing patterns and sewing strike offs for indie pattern and fabric companies. But, I also love going back to my roots and sewing up a good old Vouge paper pattern.
I have followed Project Run and Play for a few seasons now and I have enjoyed sewing along. This is a fabulous group of women who truly inspire me. I am honored to be part of season 25!
We're really sad to announce that Gemia of Phat Quarters/Pier Avenue Patterns is unable to participate in Week 3 of Mini Season 2. Gemia and her family have suffered a truly heartbreaking loss and can use your support, thoughts and prayers.
However, we're awed by Tami of SewSophieLynn who agreed to step in at the last minute and participate.
After each of these talented designers introduce themselves, we have a SURPRISE for you...stay tuned! These ladies have been challenged with this theme:
Week 3: Comfort Encapsulated - No one knows what 2021 will bring, so prepare to be comfortable no matter what happens! With the Project Lounge Library patternsas your paints, and fabric as your canvas, art will soon appear!
Let's get to know Tami and Carin better:
Hi all! I'm Tami from SewSophieLynn and I'm humbled to be stepping in for Gemia this week. I was lucky enough to compete alongside Gemia in Season 15 and my heart goes out to her and her family. I love our Project Run and Play family and the community that surrounds us. I am a mom of 5, ages 18-8, and just sent my oldest son off to North Carolina to serve a mission for our church. I have loved the slower pace this past year and all of the extra family time we've had. I still shuttle all the kiddos between soccer practices and dance lessons but we also manage to throw in lots of movie and game nights too (The Game of Things always gets us laughing)! I started sewing in high school but didn't really get into it until my oldest daughter was born. I've learned lots through pattern testing and working my way through my massive pdf pattern collection. You can follow me at SewSophieLynn on Instagram.
My name is Carin and I am wife, mom to two and live in Illinois. I currently homeschool both my children and we are loving it. Both my hubby and myself were born in South Africa , lived in Switzerland for 2 years after we got married and have been living all across the USA for the past 16 years.
My love of Sewing? The phrase “I got it from my Mama” rings very true here. I grew up in my Mom’s sewing room. She is a self-taught amazing seamstress that went from sewing for herself, us and many other people into teaching sewing classes out of her garage. I have a B.Sc in Home Economics and even though the art of sewing, designing etc. was a huge part of it, my love and skill comes from my wonderful Mom.
I grew up in my mom's sewing room. I didn't sew for a while after college but after my now 10 year old was born, I started and haven't stopped since.
My style includes lots and lots of color, I love technique and always try to improve on my own. I love old-fashioned sewing with a modern twist. I view every item I sew as a piece of Art – from the moment I put it together in my head, to picking out fabrics, sewing and pressing the very last hem.
I love flipping a well designed pattern and putting my own twist on it. Sharing my craft with people is always a blessing.

For the Week 2 theme, we tapped into the amazing talents of Annika of Naeh Connection and Jenny of Made of Starlite! This fun team has been challenged with this theme:
Week 2: Linguistics of Alteration - Pattern hacking is our love language! The biggest question this week is…will we even recognize the Project Lounge Library patterns when you’re through with them??
Be sure to find out the deal of the week at the end of this post after the designers introduce themselves!
Let's get to know Annika and Jenny better...
Hi, I'm Jenny! Since being a designer on Project Run and Play in Season 21, I've stayed pretty active with the PRP community! I absolutely love collaborating for the lookbooks, and participating in the fun blog tours Audrey puts together. In the larger online sewing community, I still pattern test for Violette Field Threads and Sofiona Designs, but I've been quieter on the social media front since we jumped headfirst into homeschool this year! 2020 pushed us all out of our comfort zones, and though every day is definitely not cupcakes and adorable science projects, my kids and I are loving the time to learn together. We also got an exciting surprise over the holidays, realizing we will be welcoming a 4th child into the family this summer! 😊 You can find my sporadic sewing adventures on Instagram.
Hi, I'm Annika from Näh-Connection and I'm so happy to be back here on Project Run and Play. I was lucky enough to win season 11 and can't wait to see what this mini season will bring. As you might have guessed from that strange "ä" in my blog name, I'm not English. I'm from Germany. I live together with my husband and 3 children super close to the Bavarian alps. When I'm not sewing, I love to explore the outdoors, to travel, to take photographs of my family and nature and to get down on my mat for some yoga. During the last years I've turned my sewing passion into a business where I translate sewing patterns from English to German (and sometimes vice versa) and sell them through my site. I'm actually a trained scientist (Geophysics and volcanology rock! Yes, they do!) but being able to work from home and to take care of my children (especially during a pandemic), not having to commute, and being my own boss, suit my current needs much better. Plus, I get to work with some fantastic designers and awesome patterns. What's not to love about that?

Hi, I'm Jenn of Jennuine Design. I'm an accountant by degree and I've taken my love of logic and precision and mashed it up with my creative side to grow into a designer. Originally from Michigan, my husband and two daughters now call New Jersey home.
We've been staying at home and remote learning since last March. Over the summer we revamped Hadley's tiny room with a loft bed with bookshelves and a great reading nook underneath, so she has her very own lounge library. I designed these two patterns with remote learning and hanging out at home in mind.
Journal Jumpsuit
The Journal Jumpsuit is modern and easy one piece dressing that is perfect for lazy mornings reading or writing in a cozy spot. It has three neckline options: a lowered back neckline, a hood with a placket, or just a placket. All of these options pull on through the neckline.
Biography Bomigan
The Biography Bombigan takes the best parts from a cardigan and a bomber jacket and mashes them together. Intended for cozy sweater knits It has a relaxed raglan silhouette with a curved back yoke. Close with a zipper or placket. Optional patch pockets and elbow patches can be added.
Our family is full of avid readers, so books and reading have always been a big part of our lives. I used to read late, late into the night over the summers readingLittle House on the PrairieorNancy Drew. As an adult I love Diana Gabaldon'sOutlanderseries and am very impatiently waiting for the ninth book to release. The girls' current favorite series areThe Secret Zoo(Arden), andThe Warriors(Hadley). Hadley is also a die hard fan ofPhoebe and Her Unicorngraphic novels - they're really good and fun for adults to read! Arden devours anything about animals, and I'm pretty sure she has read everything from W. Bruce Cameron, the author ofA Dog's Purpose.

Hi, I'm Julia from Bobbins 'N Buttons. I loved taking part in this collaboration working alongside such a talented team of designers and I love the theme we had to work with!
I decided to celebrate individuality and creativity with my pattern collection for this collaboration. I am a big believer in supporting my children’s interests and passions in life to help them… write their own story!
I have two very creative children. My little girl isn’t going to let dyslexia prevent her from dreaming about becoming an author, it's either that or an ornithologist! My little boy lives in the moment and loves to build things, he can also write a mean monster story that will have you on the edge of your seat!
We love reading, as well as silent reading I read to my kids every day, it’s a lovely time of day and a great way to inspire conversations. I have read all sorts of books including some of my childhood favourites. One of which is Alice in Wonderland. It always amazes me that this magical story was written so long ago yet is still captivating and inspiring today.
The patterns I designed for this collection followed my usual ethos of being versatile, simple and practical. I wanted to create our own mini story through the photographs and the fabric and garment combinations. We created our adventure sprinkled with some Alice wisdom and curiosity.

Alice is an A-line shape dress or top with deep ruffle detail over the shoulder. The dress has curved front seam with inseam pockets and fastens with an invisible zipper. The top has keyhole back neck fastening. Both can be made with or without sleeves and ruffles. ALICE is named after the fictional character from ALICE in Wonderland. The story really brings to life a personality that we almost feel we know. Her curiosity and sense of adventure still inspire people over a century later. A modern day ALICE would definitely wear these frills on a modern day escapade.
Becky Skirt
Becky is a girl's pull on jersey skater skirt with elasticated waist. BECKY is named after one of Julia’s friends that she met during pregnancy. This playful skirt is perfect for little girls to dance through the day in, no matter what their adventure.
George Hoodie
George is an easy fitting sweatshirt style for boys and girls with optional lined hood. GEORGE is named after the talented author George Eliot from the 1800’s who famously used a male pen name to have her work taken seriously. Today we can celebrate talent no matter what gender, race or colour. This hooded top can be created in whatever colour and pattern you like for boys and girls.
Joseph Joggers
Joseph is a slim fit unisex jogger for kids. The style has side pockets, optional knee panels and elasticated waist. JOSEPH is named after Julia’s son. Having children was the main inspiration for Julia to start designing children’s clothing. These joggers have evolved over the years and are still a firm favourite. The original idea was for comfortable play trousers with added protection for the knees!
