Week #1 Results

Wow!!!  Wasn't that a fantastic first week...seriously.  We knew that our designers would be creative and they blew us away.  Can't wait to see what week #2 has in store, but let's get to the results first.

After combining the readers' poll and our judges' scores, this week our winner is It's Always Autumn's Safari in the City look!  Congratulations Autumn......seriously great interpretation of the theme.

And sadly we are losing our dear Jess from If Only They Would Nap.  The results were so close and we seriously hate losing such amazing designers, but we know that we won't see the last of Jess, because we still have her blog where she makes clothes with such style (like her lines and angles series right now...go check it out...and leave her some comment love for all her hard work and effort).
We are going to miss you Jess.  You always add such phenomenal details to your clothing!!!!  Really, great stuff.

While the Sew-Along Judges are mulling over their decisions this weekend as to who the sew along winner is.....have a wonderful weekend.  We will see you back here on Monday with another winner and a new weekly challenge--The Spring Break Challenge---and outfit inspired by a favorite vacation or destination!

  1. Wow. Very interesting choice for the winner. I'm sure these are all very talented ladies and they all worked very hard. However I did not see "Take Me To The Zoo" or giraffe in the winning look. Don't get me wrong. The outfit is super cute, the model, adorable! If you scroll through all the looks, the animal they were going for isn't apparent except for probably the flamingos. I hope the judges take into consideration that some of the blogger/contestants have a bigger "following" on their blogs and naturally will get more votes. I hope this doesn't turn into a who is a more popular blogger contest. That would be very disappointing and you would loose a loyal fan of Project Run and Play.

    1. We all had our faves =) There were so many different styles represented here, and that doesn't make things easy for the judges. I felt the high neck top and the giraffe print shorts were very good elements for what she picked. It was supposed to be "inspired by", not a costume, so I think she did well. Reading the blog posts help understand their directions as well. Get into the mind of the designer kind of thing. Plus, judges scores are 50% of the score and votes are 50%. It's not all about blog followers, either. There have been winners with tiny blogs and very few followers that "beat out" big bloggers. People really do vote for what they like.

    2. as a past competitor, I can vouch that this is not a popularity contest.... when I competed I had only 50 blog followers and still made it to the final three. I loved competing, learned a ton, and made amazing friends. PR&P will always be a love of mine! All of the competitors are so talented and are creating amazing things... the judges never have it easy ;o)

    3. This is the outfit I voted for and I'd never heard of the blogger before this (nor do I follow her blog now...) so that did not influence my vote. I liked that the outfit wasn't as obvious as it could have been and I think it's very 'giraffe' and yet still very wearable. I highly doubt 'popularity' is the reason this was our winner.

  2. Congrats to the winner! It was clean sewing and the high neck and the printed shorts were awesome giraffe elements without being a costume- as per the theme guidelines. That's a hard line to walk with a theme like this. Everyone had a fun look- some more theatrical than others. =) I LOVE clothing with some fancy flair, but I do have a daughter that goes to the grocery store in princess dresses and a tiara, which isn't exactly "normal". HAHA! "Practical" to us always involves glitter and flounce!

So sorry to see you go, Jess. You have an eye for fun details. I hope you still sew along with each theme.

Great work everyone! Can't wait to see what's in store next week!

  3. Congrats Autumn- your giraffe look was well thought out.

Jess so sad to see you go- your shark look was my favorite. Hopefully you'll still sew along. Can't wait to see more boy looks!

  5. This was for sure the hardest time I had to vote in this competition. I voted for none of them, Autumn or Jess, but they are both amazing and well executed as any other. It all came down to our personal preferences. The winning outfit is appropriate to the theme and I actually like to see urban clothes, pactical and that out kids really enjoy wearing.
Congrats Autumn and Jess, I'm really sad to see you go.

  6. I really loved this giraffe look- it had subtle hints towards the theme but I can see my daughter wearing this as an everyday outfit, not just on halloween. :) Great job this round and can't can't can't wait to see what everyone will be creating next week. <3

  10. Just have to say how much I loved If Only They Would Nap's Shark Outfit! I found myself remembering it after reading the post and trying to think how I could do something like that. It was subtle and inventive, and very on-trend. I just loved the red on the pants. We all under-appreciate boys' sewing, I think, because it has to be subtler and more about the details. It would be interesting to have a whole season of PR&P for boys' sewing!
