I started sewing back in 2009 when I was pregnant with my daughter, Abby, and we thought there might be a defect in her heart. It took awhile before we could get answers from a specialist and in the meantime I was going crazy over thinking everything. You know how fear is. It gets ahold of you and won't let go unless you replace it with something else. I replaced it with sewing, which to me represented HOPE. I pulled out my mom's old sewing machine, read some blogs, and started sewing like crazy for that little girl's life. She was going to be okay, and by golly, she would also have some really cute bedding.
After all that fuss, we learned there was nothing wrong with Abby's heart and life moved forward with two new dreams: my daughter, and sewing. I've been creating clothing for all three of my kids ever since and I get a particular joy out of sewing summer dresses and boy shorts. I love bright colors, sunshine, print mixing, and color blocking, among other things. I also really, really, love making patterns and teaching people how to sew.
