{Meet the Designers} Susan from Living with Punks

picnikbiopic2
Hi!  I’m Susan and I blog at Living with Punks!  I’m so overly excited to be participating in Project Run and Play.  I have followed both previous season’s, always highly anticipating the reveals.  And, always managed to be amazed at the designs that they all came up with.  It’s an honor to be included in this season’s line-up.

A little about me:  I’m mom to 3 wild punks… 9 year old twin boys, who always keep me on my toes, and a sweet 3 year old girlie who keeps us all on our toes!  We live smack dab in the middle of California where it only takes 3 hours to get to either hot spot… LA or San Fran!  I love that part!  I grew up in a small farming town where I was forced taught about hard work.  I know that my current  life and outlook was shaped by the responsibilities I had growing up.  Wouldn’t change it for the world!

I’ve been sewing for 3 years and I feel so blessed to have found my creative niche.  I have always had a massive slant towards creative design, but never really was grounded in any one medium.  I’ve tried it all, and when I finally got hooked on sewing, there was no turning back.  It’s my passion!  I can’t wait to be challenged by the themes each week to stretch my sewing skills and knowledge that much further.

If I had to sum myself up in one sentence it would be this:  A procrastinating perfectionist who is always punctual.  So needless to say, I am a Type A who performs best under pressure.  I thrive on the ability to create a list, do the things on the list and yes, cross off the list.  I never sit down, unless of course to sew or blog, but I have to literally force myself to watch a movie with the family.  And most of the time, it doesn’t last!

I’ll leave you with some quirky facts:
  • I can eat any MLB player under the table in a sunflower seed eating contest
  • I know a common 7 letter word that uses all 5 vowels
  • I unconsciously hit people if they wake me up
  • I have a horrible fear of bats…in my room
  • I secretly want to be a cop
Again, thanks to Elizabeth and Liz for having me and I can’t wait to start designing!!! Bring it on!!!
