Guest Judge: Christie from A Lemon Squeezy Home

Today we are so excited to welcome our first guest judge of Season 5, the talented Christie from A Lemon Squeezy Home.  Take it away Christie......

I am thrilled to be here today for the first week of Project Run and Play.  I cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with this week using Katy’s beautiful Bias Skirt as their inspiration.

I decided to do a round-up of clothing items and tutorials using bias tape or fabric cut on the bias.
Hopefully these pictures and their sources get your creativity flowing so you can conjure up your own items.
Bias Tape Tutorial (how to make it!)
ruffled hobo bag (uses a pattern but you might want to check out the link—they used the bias ruffles a pretty cool way, if you can’t already tell from the picture!)

Surprisingly, this round-up was a little harder to get together than I thought it would be.  There just aren’t that many tutorials using bias cut fabric other than on skirts and bias tape.  All the more reason to get more lovely projects out there using bias cut fabric!

Thanks for having me today and I can’t wait to see what these talented contestants come up with!

  1. Great roundup!
I agree…. I had a lot of trouble finding tutorials online for this theme and crazy enough… I was *this* close to using that first dress as my inspiration, but I went a different direction!

  2. This challenge was a new one for me as well - I've used plenty of bias tape and bias cut yardage in my time, but using raw cut strips was a great challenge. I'm excited to try more and more bias cut experiments in the future!!!

  3. I am so relieved to see that your round up showed using home-made bias tape to finish edges and provide nice details and not just raw edges. I was begining to think that my use of bias tape for my project was not within the spirit of this week's challenge because I did not use raw edges.

  4. I love that first dress & the last bag! Thanks Christie!
