And the Season 7 themes are.....

This season is going to be so fun!
I want to sew along with every single week!

Week 1 (September 9th)---Pattern Remix
We have our pattern remix challenge the first week of every season and this one is no exception!  This season we will be remixing the adorable Oliver + S Popover Sundress (which you can download HERE for free).  It is a perfect dress for a first time pattern remixer (and a fun pattern to work with for all you experienced seamstresses out there)!  Plus we have a very special guest scheduled to come and tell us all about the pattern...we are so excited!

Week 2 (September 16)---Candy Inspired
With Halloween on the way we just couldn't resist a candy inspired challenge!  So choose your favorite candy (or pile of candy) and get designing.  (I am so looking forward to this week...I want to open the linky party for it RIGHT NOW!)

Week 3 (September 23)---Mad for Plaid
This week the rules are easy...choose a plaid or two or three and incorporate that plaid goodness into your design.  It's perfect for boys and fun for girls and we know what ever plaid madness you make will be spectacular!

Week 4 (September 30)---You Signature Look
Design a look that best represents your own unique style, taste, and best showcases your skill set.

So, there you have it...all 4 themes.
(Yes, this season there will only be 4 weeks...we told you there were changes brewing over here at Project Run and Play...we'll post the new weekly schedule soon but for now we wanted to get the themes posted so you have time to get designing and sewing...so get to it!  We've been going through withdrawals...we've been missing the sew along!)

  1. These are great! I'm totally new to pr&p, and was curious as to the rules, for both contestants and those sewing along. I read something, somewhere here, about providing a tutorial for each design? Or maybe I'm crazy... ;)

    1. Hi Tasha! I'm so glad to see you pop up over here.....we've participated in the sew-along for several seasons now, and be forewarned: It's addicting! Anyway, I think I can answer your question {based on past seasons}. The sew-along friends do not have to provide tutorials. The weekly competitor winner provides a tutorial for her creation the week following the voting... Can't wait to see your creations!

    2. Tasha--Welcome to PRP!!!

About the tutorials...ladies in the sew along never have to provide tutorials...just link up your design to the linky party.
Happy to have you sewing along!

  4. Are sweets, by chance, part of the candy theme? Like, brownies, cinnamon buns, cookies? Or is a exclusive candy club? ;)

  6. Oh my! So exited! I was just thinking about PR&P and decided to search it and see when the next season was and lo and behold there the themes are! Love the Mad for Plaid theme for sure. Sort of sad about Boys week going away though.

    3. Bonnie---
I'm going to echo what Max and Zafarani said---just because a challenge doesn't say "BOY" on it doesn't mean you can't sew for boys! The pattern remix could become a romper or overalls...the candy inspired could be for any gender...the mad for plaid is PERFECT for boys and if you already sew for boys then that is right up your alley for your signature style! Every week CAN be boys week. Can't wait to what you make!

  9. I'm sorry but I don't understand what candy inspired is. Please can you tell me what kind of fabrics or style it is supposed to fit this category. Thank you very much. I am going to take part in this season and don't want to misunderstand the themes. Have a good day

    1. Candy inspired simply means choose a kind of candy...for instance, a peppermint stick...then you can make clothing inspired by it's colors and patterns...like using diagonal stripes or only the colors red and white, etc.

I hope this answers your question!

  10. What exactly is a pattern remix? Thanks!

    1. A "pattern remix" is where you take a pattern and then change part of it...adding sleeves, changing the length, adding ruffles, etc.

So you are just taking a pattern and re-doing a portion of it...mixing it up a little and adding in some of your own style.

(If you are still unsure over on the side bar we have a category that says Pattern Remix...click on it and check out what people have done in the past...there are some great ideas in there!)

  14. I can hardly wait for the "Candy Inspired" theme week!!! I already have an idea of what I want to do.....just have to figure out how to do it!!!!

By the way.....because of the "Pattern Remix" in week 1 I am about to make my very first Oliver & S popover dress!!! Figured I better make it as the pattern calls for to make sure it is going to fit right before I try to remix it.

  17. Liz & Elizabeth, we are so excited for this season's themes and the increase in the number of seasons. It seems like for me that life stops when PR&P isn't going. It's been so much fun to get to be a part of and a great motivator to improve my sewing and fashion/design ability. I feel like I've finally found my niche in life. Too bad it's taken 24 years to get to that point.
    Thanks again!

  18. At what point in the week do the sew-along submissions need to be posted? (e.g. If the pattern remix week starts on Monday, September 9, is it by Friday that the sew-alongs need to be posted?) Thanks!
