Summer Dressing for Active Kids

Summer is coming, Project Run & Play-ers!! It's Jenn from A Jennuine Life/Jennuine Design and today I'm going to gather up a few patterns for kids on the go for the warmer months.
11 summer sewing patterns for active kids
I've pulled together a wide range of patterns, good for both boys and girls. C'mon, grab an iced coffee or lemonade and let's check them out!
  Tops Collage
Starting with tops; light and breezy is the way to be when summer starts heating up. The Shandiin by LouBee Clothing lends itself perfectly to higher temps. I made this up cycled version for running using technical fabrics from my running shirts. For boys, a Twisted Tank by Titchy Threads allows some stylish breathability. Other tank options: Artemis or Archer by Stitch Upon A Time.
  Shorts Collage
For bottoms, I love the airy look of the Moku Shorts by Tadah Patterns. Free for the entire family, PurlSoho's City Gym Shorts have a great sporty look and would be a quick sew. *Image from Stitched Together. Also free and perfect alone or with dresses for worry-free acrobatics, Baste & Gather's Summer Shorties. Want more? Clover Shorts by Mouse House Creations, Field Research Cargo Pants with a zip-off short option by Scientific Seamstress, or Susie Shorts by Modkid (paired with a cute halter top)
  One Piece Collage
One-piece dressing makes for quick departures, so rompers and dresses are a favorite for summer activities like hikes and playgrounds. Puperita's Jumpy Romper is perfect for younger boys or girls and is reversible for dual duty dressing. The Satya Rompers I've made for my girls may look fancier because of the fabrics, but they play hard. The freshly-released Solis Dress by Sofilantjes is a perfect summer dress, and paired with a pair of Summer Shorties from above, it would be ready for any summer action. More options: Alley Cat Romper by Lil Luxe, or Brindle & Twig's Summer Romper
Swim Collage
An active summer wouldn't be complete without covering beachwear. Sew By Pattern Pieces has girls covered with the Stinger Bodysuit *image from Kiwi Crafty Chemist, and boys can have fun in the surf with Peekaboo Pattern Shop's Hang Ten Rash Guard and New Horizons Design's Long Beach Board Shorts patterns *image from I'm Feelin' Crafty. For more swimwear: Cosi Swimsuit by Sewpony Vintage, or Cloud 9 Swim Shorts by Titchy Threads
That's my inspiration post - have you begun sewing for summer? Make sure to link up your projects to the linky for a chance to win!

  1. My go to this last summer in Australia was the Boo Designs Skater dress pattern. Made in Spandex my girls were in them constantly, they were cool, easy to put on, easy to wash, quick to dry and best of all no ironing required.

  2. I was scrolling through and was like, Hey! I know that booty and those shorts! :) Great projects!
