Meet the Designer: Jess from Gracious Threads

Hi all! I'm still having a hard time believing that I'm here as a contestant for Project Run and Play! When I first started blogging 4 years ago, I sewed alongside the competitors and was in awe of their skill and creativity. I hope I do this contest justice! jess_final cropped
A little about me: My name is Jess (well, Jessica, but very few people call me that!) and I blog at Gracious Threads. I'm the mother of 4 beautiful children, 2 girls and 2 boys. We live on a dairy farm in northern Alberta, Canada. I'm a elementary school teacher, but have taken a few years off (except for the occasional substitute teaching day) to stay at home with my kids.

I began sewing as a creative outlet and began blogging at Gracious Threads to share my makes with friends and family. After a few years of sharing free patterns and tutorials, I began more seriously learning about pattern drafting. I bought or borrowed dozens of drafting books and took a few online courses and soon released my first pattern. I now have nearly two dozen patterns and can't imagine my life without sewing. Like many of you, I enjoy both the creative and practical aspects of sewing. I've sewn nearly everything, from quilts to winter coats to bras, yes bras! I'm really looking forward to sharing with you my looks during this competition, and well as being inspired by the other competitors.
