Hi, I am Miranda and I blog over at Inspinration. I have always
been intrigued by sewing, ever since I was a little girl. I feared the
sewing machine though, it was too quick to handle, so I sewed doll
clothes by hand. My sewing career did not take off until much later
though. When we expected our second, I decided to sew 24 washable
diapers. Through that process I taught myself to sew (unfortunately
the diapers turned out too small because I birthed a small giant). I
later sewed a few dresses for my eldest daughter, but easily months
went by without any sewing. Just after having our fourth child, I
discovered knits. I have not stopped sewing since. I sew with all
kinds of fabrics, but knits have truly stolen my heart. Me and my
serger are the best of friends. I mostly sew for my kids, but on
occasion I sew for myself as well. When I am not with my family or
sewing, I work as a university lecturer (and hope to finally finish my
PhD within a year).
I had a non-active blog for a few years, but two years ago I turned
into an active blogger. When I chose the name four years ago, together
with a friend, our main source of inspiration was Pinterest.
InsPINration seemed very appropriate. Since then I actually moved my
main interested from crocheting to sewing and from Pinterest to
Bloglovin.
I love upcycling and I am always up for a challenge. Project Run and
Play has been the ultimate challenge for long. Sewing along season 10
was actually the thing that lead to the first ever comment on my blog.
I hate throwing away fabric, so I cut extremely economical. I sew
quickly, which is why I regularly create lovely challenges for myself.
I prefer to hack a pattern over sewing according to the instructions
and seem to be incapable of making the same pattern the same way
twice. For this season of project Run and Play I plan to hack, mix and
draft even more than I usually do.
Good luck Miranda!!
