Today's stop on the Pantone Party tour is really, really fun! Amanda of Deriving Mommyhood created the most adorable yellow and grey looks using fabric from Bobbins 'N Buttons.
Let's hear from Amanda:
I'm so excited to be a part of the Pantone Party here at Project Run and Play! When I was asked if I wanted to participate and saw the colors for this year, I was hooked. I am in love with this year's colors, and love how happy and hopeful they are. I chose to sew coordinating Spring looks for my two littlest and it just puts a smile on my face to see them, hopefully it works for you too!!
My daughter has a modified Robin Dress, where I added piping rather than the ruffle and tied it in with some trim along the bottom. I used star print chambray I snagged from the remnant page over at Bobbins and Buttons. I hand painted some yellow buttons for the back and sneakily lined it in yellow fabric as well. I thought she needed even more yellow, so I made her a Pacifica Jacket from Little Lizard King to wear over it, choosing the fully pieced hip length version. The fabulous yellow denim is from Bobbins and Buttons also and can be found here (also comes in lots of other shades!). I lined it with the same chambray on the collar/cuffs/waistband but used some cosy modal french terry for the rest. (Did you know that Annie from my season designed this jacket? I've already made 3....). I added a little chambray piping along those shoulder seams as well.
For my son, I made him some yellow skinny jeans using the Star Boy Skinnies. The denim only has about 10-15% stretch, so slightly less than the pattern calls for so I added a tuxedo stripe in the chambray down each leg. I chose to do the ribbed elastic waistband so they are pull on, and added stitched stars on the back pockets. For his sweater, I used the Hot Chocolate Hoodie out of the modal striped french terry, and did a shawl collar (rather than options in the pattern, though there are neckband, hoodie, and cowl included that would all be great) and lined it in some yellow jersey (again from Bobbins and Buttons).
There's more details and pictures over on my blog if you'd like to know more!!
