Hi, I'm Jenn of Jennuine Design. I'm an accountant by degree and I've taken my love of logic and precision and mashed it up with my creative side to grow into a designer. Originally from Michigan, my husband and two daughters now call New Jersey home.
With the strong Italian influence in our area, there are lots of great gelato shops around. Our local favorite is Gelotti's and they have wonderful gelato, Italian ice, sorbet and ice cream. "Reetas" are a local treat - soft serve ice cream combined with Italian ice - kind of like an orange creamsicle!
The Baie (French for "berry") Blazer is inspired by a RTW knit blazer that I had for Arden when she was a toddler. I put some favorite things aside if I think I might someday want to make a larger version of them and this was from that pile. I changed it a little bit to make the straight option unisex and added pockets that the original didn't have. There are two basic silhouettes - straight and peplum. The straight option can have an added back vent which I think really ups the "smooth" factor of this comfortable blazer with a big impact.
The Limone (Italian for "lemon") Lounge Set covers all the bases for breezy summers. I picture walking along a boardwalk enjoying a crisp citrus sorbet looking out over the beach and ocean... There are shorts in short and Bermuda lengths, cropped pants and ankle length pants. The skirt has knee and maxi lengths with an optional long side vent to make walking easier. All options feature nice deep patch pockets and a wide encased elastic waistband that is perfect for a drawstring and/or an optional paper bag waist.
I nearly had a full outfit, but a comfortable tee was missing! The Bacio (Italian for "kiss" and also a wonderful gelato flavor) Basic Tee filled that void. It's a relaxed silhouette with a straight or gently curved hem. The neckline can be a standard band, or make a rugged cool raw hem neckline.
As always, this collaboration has been a wonderful experience. All the different designs and designers work with one another and I can't wait to share all the sewing I've done from the collection!
