It's time for another installment in one of our favorite series, Take Me Back! Today we're going to do a deep dive into the Athleisure: Blurring the Lines by Sweeter Than Cupcakes for the Nothing But Knit theme in Season 11 Week 1.
This look is just so cozy and makes us want to copy it RIGHT NOW! It's got enough relaxed vibe to be worn over and over again, and enough special details to make it SO special! Let's break down all 3 pieces of this look starting at the jacket.
We've got to admit we have a huge weakness for jacket sewing! The proportions are so good on this one and it's absolutely perfect for throwing on after a workout, or on a chilly morning.
Structured knit jacket with quilted details resources:
Jacket pattern: The Caraway Cardigan is a great place to start on for this look. It has a longer length version, pockets, and an option for a button front. Adding the oversize accent collar would be quite easy using this tutorial.
Jacket fabric: This super soft yet structured sweatshirt fleece in a dark navy is exactly right for this application. You can either quilt your own fabric for the pocket and collar, or use prequilted fabric like this good quality one.
Jacket buttons: These oversize grey buttons will be the perfect statement closures that make this jacket really pop!
Under the jacket is this adorable color blocked peplum top! It's got so many cute details, and luckily for you, we've know how to replicate it exactly!
Colorblock peplum resources:
Peplum pattern: The most complicated part of the colorblock in this pattern is those curved side stripes, so we suggest starting with a pattern that already has those designed in...the Via Top, Tunic and Dress. Then just add the top color block (or use the Nini Noni Nightwear pattern) and the peplum which can both be straight lines. Here is another good tutorial on colorblocking.
Peplum fabric: We have sourced the exact fabric that Courney used for this top, so you can copy her to a tee! (Get it, to a tee...on a t-shirt?!? Okay, we'll stop.) The 3 fabric are all from Art Gallery Fabrics solid knit line and they are deep dark ocean, icy mint, and coral reef colors.
Finally there are those sensational leggings! Again, we have the exact information you need.
Leggings pattern: The Dressage Leggings with almost no changes except adding piping! Here is a tutor you need all about adding piping.
Leggings fabric: Again Art Gallery Fabric knit solid fabric is a perfect match here. This color way is Tin Tint, and is perfect leggings fabric.
Leggings piping: Use this navy blue piping and you're set to go.
Here it is, all in one place:
Location, Styling and Photography: It looks like she just paused to catch her breath in the middle of a great jog, doesn't it? The location definitely takes back stage here so the clothes can shine! The hair style is no nonsense and out of the way, again placing emphasis on the garments. The poses are just right (lots of angles always make a good photo) yet looks so natural an un-posed!
