Today we have Emily from Emily Sews Stuff making a SPLASH with these fun girls pieces!
I tested the Armeria embroidery pattern when it was first released by Peony. For the release, I did the large design 1. I knew my niece would need a beachy outfit for our vacation this summer but I didn’t have enough of the same fabric I used on my daughter’s Ivy dress. For the second dress, I used design 2 in the same colors on a Juniper dress. I love that they coordinate without matching.
I’m so happy I finally got around to making a Minnow suit! Like all of Sofiona’s designs, it’s like nothing else you’ll find anywhere—there’s nothing basic about it. But don’t let that be intimidating—instead let it be an opportunity to impress yourself. I used the colorblocking and straps to combine a coral print and aqua and yellow solids from my swim scrap stash to make a bright, cheery suit that’s ready for the pool.
I learned the hard way that when making something as cute as a stuffed Axolotl, never think you can get away with making just one when you have two daughters. No matter how old those daughters are. Axolotl #1 was quickly claimed by my teenager, followed by tears, and then Axolotl #2. The good news is they come together very quickly. I made both of these with supplies I had on hand. I used fleece scraps for the bodies, legs, and no-fray gills; button eyes, and embroidered the mouth.
