"Another day for Sofiona Designs to jump in on the Art Studio fun. If you saw our previous look, you already know that we are all about showcasing the northern Canadian landscape and we think it’s the best fuel for our creativity in the art of sewing. Today we’ve got a pattern that has been used for a huge variety of looks from PJs to fancy wear. It’s the Rocky Shore tights and we’ve even added a new size to extend this loved pattern just for this collection. Have a peek-a-boo and see how we brought the nature onto this canvas."

Trish used the Rocky Shore Tights and Paired it with an Aurora Raglan!

Project Art Studio with Sherri of Sofiona Designs

Sherri of Sofiona Designs used the Natural Canvas for her inspiration and made this gorgeous Haze Dress! Here is what Sherri had to say about her inspiration...

Sofiona Designs is excited to be a part of the Art Studio Collection!. With our love of the northern Canadian landscape we couldn’t help but quickly take advantage of our changing seasons (you know they change so fast!!!) and create some art with nature AS our canvas, but also nature ON our canvas. Today’s look involves some hand embroidery to elevate a linen Haze dress and point out just how much we love how the outdoors inspires us.

Project Art Studio: Haze Dress & Rocky Shore Leggins

Sherri & Trish of Sofiona Designs have graciously added these two amazing patterns to the Project Art Studio Collection. Sherri won Season 14 of Project Run and Play and we are so excited to have more of her patterns in our pattern library! Sofionas team has impeccable drafting and attention to detail. 

Haze Dress

The Haze was very specifically created with linen in mind. A casual, easy-to-wear dress that can go many places and suits the great qualities of linen fabric. The front bodice features cute bubble tucks or box pleats that can be sewn regular or inverted. The back V is sectioned into narrow horizontal pleats or it’s a perfect spot to showcase some heirloom embroidery. There are two lengths - shirt and knee length dress. The shirt hem is simple. The dress length is also simple but has an option for a deep pleated hem section. The waist ties cinch in the waist for a pretty silhouette. It makes me think of picnics in the park and big straw hats.

Rocky Shore Leggins

The Rocky Shore tights are designed with negative ease in the style of performance tights.  Waistline options include crossed over yoga band or fold over elastic band.  They can be cut to shorts length or kept as full length tights.  When making the full length tights, an optional separate lower panel allows for the possibility of colour blocking.  It features either a solid panel or 3 peek-a-boo windows along the outseam.  The peek-a-boo windows were the inspiration when naming these tights, as they cause one to envision a rock grasped from the shoreline and then sent skipping across the waters surface. You are going to want to make a million of these.
