Flickr Friends Guest Post: Justine from Sew Country Chick

Hello, I am Justine from the Sew Country Chick blog and I am so happy to be posting here at Project Run & Play! I have been following Project Run & Play and participating in the Flickr group Sew A Long for two seasons now. I am grateful for Project Run & Play because it has helped me take my children's sewing more seriously and I have been exposed to some really creative and wonderful blogs.
My tutorial today is for the French Mariniere t- shirt dress.

This dress was a part of my signature look for the Project Run and play Flick pool:
This is a very simple dress to make.

I have had a love affair for the Mariniere tee for years now and it seems I am not he only one. I have some good company!
Coco Chanel.

Pablo Picasso.

Bridgitte Bardot.

Are you convinced yet that this is a great look and that you need one too?
Although the Mariniere is easy to find outside of France for adults, finding them for children is very difficult so I decided to make one for Gigi.
Here are the directions for the tutorial:
Materials needed:
An adult white t shirt from the hobby shop
marine blue fabric paint
a small paintbrush
wooden or sailor type anchor buttons
a sewing machine

Bon Jour mes amis!

    1. Hi Micheala, gigi's shoes are actually Stride Rite. But she does also have Salt water sandals and I love them.

    2. Thanks so much! My little girl went from crawling to running and has almost grown out of the only pair of shoes she owns. Next weekend is shoe shopping! I'll have to hit up Stride Rite!

  11. Such a sweet dress--I'm not careful enough to risk the painted stripes, but I loved making this simple shape out of a larger t-shirt!
