And just like that, we are on to WEEK 3 of the Mini Project Run and Play! this series is fast and fun. Don't blink or you might just miss it!
Today we get to know the next two designers a little better.
Hayley from Welcome to the Mouse House and Ari from Max California asked each other questions, and here is what they said:
Ari: Where
do you get your inspiration from?
Hayley: I don't have one particular place I
get inspiration from, honestly. Sometimes, inspiration strikes me at
the oddest times like while watching a tv show, shopping or just from
trying to solve a problem at hand. Some of my best ideas came on a
whim.
Ari: How would you describe your style?
Hayley: I would have to say my style is free
flowing. In other words, I don't think I have a set style. ;). I love
classic lines like a Peter Pan collar, but I also don't want to always
make classic pieces. That would be boring to me. Long story short, I
don't think I have a style that is any one description. I love
whimsical, classic, unique and memorable
Ari: Why do you sew?
Hayley: I have been sewing since I can remember (maybe 5 years
old?). I sew because I love it. I love the fact that I can take fabric
and turn it into clothing or home decor or gifts. It is always pretty
cool to watch a flat piece of fabric turn into something 3 dimensional
and then I love seeing the joy it brings others. Sometimes I sew because
of necessity (like not finding curtains I like anywhere in my budget or
making pants for my kid that has super skinny waist and nowhere sells
his size) and other times I sew because I want to have a creative
outlet. I sew because it is simply part of my life.

Hayley: Do your kids like that they have mommy-made clothing and do you think it will remain that way as they get older?
Ari: the
kids love it so much. vin loves that I can make him literally anything
he wants and Eddie is just stoked that she can see something on tv and
ask me to make it for her. I think they will always appreciate that I
sew for them, I tell them how their friends mum's can do other stuff but
this is the thing that I can do (I can't bake ಥ‿ಥ) so it's special!
Hayley: Do you get asked all the time to hem people's pants? Just curious ;)
Ari: Yes. ALL THE TIME aha. And curtains. And once to fix someone's fly of their jeans. I'm pretty good at saying no now though.
Hayley: Has your style always been the same or have you evolved over time?
Ari: It's
definitely evolved, for me anyway (it's probably still weird to
everyone else). I used to be very into rockabilly/punk/goth/grunge sort
of stuff, whereas now I'm just ALL THE COLOURS and fun. I definitely
have a lot of throwbacks to my "youth" though with things I sew the
kids. I think consistently I've always been outside the box, square peg
in the round hole you know? But I like that.
Hayley: What is your least favorite thing to sew?
Ari: Button
up shirts. They look amazing and I love using all that amazing woven
fabric, but I hate how tedious it is. It's just too much work. Its got
to be something really inspiring to me to want to spend a long time on
it and button up shirts don't do it for me hah. Doesn't stop me from
seeing them though!
