Hi there, my name is Iris, I'm the creator and designer behind Iris May patterns.
I live in a small village in Belgium with my husband and two (twin) girls, Fien and Louise (almost 4y). Because both our birthdays, mine and that of the girls, fall in May, I design clothing under the name -Iris May patterns-. My brand name exists about a year, but I sew much longer. My mum was my first and only sewing teacher, she taught me how to work with the sewing machine when I was about 9 years old. As a teenager I made a lot of my own clothes. After a long break I started sewing again when my girls were born. At the start of my online sewing career I mostly combined different patterns to get the desired outfits. It is because of the many pattern hacks that I finally started drafting my own patterns from scratch. I started patterndrafting about two years ago. In that period I also started my blog, under the name 'Oekeboeleke’. 'Boeleke' refers to a 'little baby' in Flemish. Because my girls are growing up so quickly, I changed the name of my blog about a year ago to 'Iris May'. At this moment I work part time as a science teacher in high school and part time as a pattern designer. In addition to sewing, I enjoy walking, photography and I love being outside in the garden. I am very excited and a bit nervous to be here! I hope you will like my creations. You can follow my creations on my blog, facebook and instagram!
So glad you are making your patterns! I have been enjoying them in Australia...
