Back to School - Celeste Dress, Elodie Skirt, Jack Back Pack

 It's such a delight to be able to offer you the final 3 patterns for your Back to School sewing.  These are designed by Iris May Designs, a European designer.  Here's a little geography lesson for you: maybe you've noticed that trends tend to hit Europe first and then migrate to the US?  Well, that means that these patterns are what you're seeing in the current Back to School offerings in all the retail stores!!  Except you get to choose the fabrics and make them fit your child's body!  A+ performance if you ask us!

Celeste Dress & Top

The Celeste Dress and Top pattern has so many options are provided in the pattern!  You can choose from: a choice of dress or blouse, short or long dress, with or without collar, large or small collar with or without ruffles, back closure with buttons, zip or split, side pockets or patch pockets.  

And the options in sleeves include: short sleeve, long sleeve, sleeve with elastic at wrist, sleeve with elastic and ruffles at the bottom, and sleeve with cuff.  Wow!  Which will you make first?

Elodie Skirt

The Elodie sewing pattern contains many options: a pleated skirt in stretchy fabric, a pleated skirt in non-stretchy fabric, a pleated skirt with sewn-in shorts, and a separate pattern section for fitted shorts.

The sewing pattern is provided with an extensive tutorial, which will guide you step by step through the making process of Elodie. This makes the sewing pattern suitable for both novice sewers who like a challenge and for more experienced sewers.

Jack Back Pack

The Jack backpack contains pattern parts for making backpacks with different sizes and options. Here is an overview:

Options in closures: Click buckles, Satchel closure, Magnetic closure

Back to School - Park Life Parka, Hey Day Dungarees, Star Child Skinny Jeans

 You're in luck today!  We've got some really amazing staple patterns you're going to sew over and over again, starting with your back to school sewing.

As you probably have come to know and love, Waves & Wild patterns are easy to sew and understand, have clear instructions, and look so good on your child!  Check out these new pupils:

Park Life Parka:

The Park Life is a comfortable and warm zip jacket with a nod to 90s Brit-pop styling!

The Park Life goes from Age 2 up to Age 12. It has a removable hood which attaches with snaps. The hood has a removable fur trim. Wadding is added to create shape and add insulation. There are options for welt pockets, zip pockets and patch pockets.

Hey Day Dungarees:

The Child Hey Day Dungarees pattern combines comfort with a funky sense of style.

This is a relaxed fit dungaree/overall. It has tie straps which don’t need undoing in order to take the garment on and off! Choose between button holes or loops. In addition, there are FIVE pockets for hiding all your stuff. They are designed to be long and worn rolled at the ankle.  

Star Child Skinny Jeans:

The Star Child Skinny Jeans are a classic skinny jeans pattern.  There are lots of options including: zip fly, modified faux fly or yoga waist, hip and back patch pockets.  Sewing these is NOT too difficult, and you're going to feel like such a rock star every time you see your kids running around in JEANS you sewed for them!

Back to School - Ash Jumpsuit, Elm Poncho, Goodall Cardigan

 You guys!  We have them!!!!  We now carry the complete set of Petit a Petit children's patterns, just in time for your back to school sewing!!!  These patterns are oldies, but goodies.  If you have sewn any of the Petit a Petit patterns before, you know how amazing they are, both in construction, design and final product.  However, these patterns are a little older so don't include layers or projector file.  For this reason, we've priced them ridiculously low...don't miss out!

We are delighted to bring you the Ash Jumpsuit pattern!  This darling woven jumpsuit  can be used as separates as well!  Check out all the versions:

Check out the Elm Poncho Raincoat! This woven Raincoat Poncho with options to line and cute little animal ears.  You can make it fully lined or not, include a visor for the hood, make large mouse ears or small chipmunk ears, choose patch pockets and/or inseam welt pockets.  What a great pattern!

Goodall Cardigan

Back to School - Lavender Dress and Lilac Bloomers

Prepare yourself for some classic inspirations!  The two patterns we're featuring today are new to the shop and the kind that rarely go out of style!

The Lavender Dress and Lilac Bloomers were created by Rachel of Southern Magnolia Design during Season 26 for the Week 2 Pleats to Meet You challenge. 

 

Lavender is a vintage-inspired dress with heirloom-style accents. It features directions for pintucks or lace inserts on both the bodice and the skirt. But even the simple version will look lovely with the deep hem and vintage length of the skirt. There are also ruffled collar and sleeve, sleeveless, and long sleeve options. Mix and match the various styles for your own unique look!

Lilac is a vintage bloomer inspired bottom with heirloom accents. It features directions for pintucks or lace inserts that match perfectly with the Lavender dress. But you can also make the simple version for a very quick sew. Whether it is worn as modesty shorts under a dress, or as regular shorts paired with a top, the Lilac Bloomers are a perfect choice for comfort and style.

40 Patterns PERFECT for Color Blocking

 In our last post we shared 30+ inspiration ideas for color blocking kids clothes.  But maybe you are looking for a pattern to take the guesswork out of color blocking for you.  You're in luck because today we're sharing 40 patterns that are PERFECT for color blocking!

Top patterns perfect for color blocking:

Probably the 1st pattern that jumped to our minds when thinking about color blocking is everyone's favorite Lemon Tee!  It has several options for color blocking in the cutest ways.

On the Easel Tee you can color block by using a different color for the neckband, sleeve bands and pocket.  Easy Peasy!

That yoke on the top of the Sevilla Sleeveless Top is begging for color blocking!

The Touka Sweater offers options for color blocking on the front, back, sleeves and hood!  Have fun with this one!

Check out this jaw-dropping color blocking on the Blip Turtleneck.  BOOM!

The curved front lines on the Sundowner Sweatshirt offer the perfect opportunity to use a different color just for that section, creating and accentuating the color block!

Use a different color for the neckband, placket and sleeve cuffs like some of our testers did on the Multi-Hue Henley for color blocking cuteness.

The Adventurer Raglan Sweatshirt is perfect for color blocking, and the raglan sleeves really show it off!

The George Hoodie has a lined hood and huge front pocket, which offers even more options for color blocking.

The Easy Street Tee has dolman sleeves, a cuff and lower sleeves.  These look really awesome in a color blocked palette!

Hands down, the Up Beet Tee offers to COOLEST ways to color block with those super hip curved sleeve and yoke lines.  A must color block pattern!

Not just another raglan pattern, the Aurora Raglan has shoulder ties that add a very feminine element to color blocking!

The Theodor Raglan Sweatshirt is super fun to color block.  Grab a couple of crayons, and plan this one out, then get sewing!

Bottoms patterns perfect for color blocking:

Jingle Joggers pattern with the contrasting side stripe.  Color blocking done!

The tiers on the Evergreen Skirt are just begging for some color blocking action.  Who will be first?

The Pudding Pants can be color blocked in so many fun ways, the biggest problem you're going to have is deciding which way to sew first!

The Via Top, Tunic & Dress pattern was MADE for color blocking.

We can't decide if we like the effect of color blocking on the sleeves or the front contrast yoke of Abby's Watercolor Dress better.  How about you?

Modkid Aubrey Dress and color blocking...basically synonyms, right?  

The paneled version of the Tip Top Tunic and Dress is absolute color blocking perfection.  And the double sleeves color blocked?  Cherry on top!

The moment we saw all the color blocking opportunities on the Risu Dress, we fell in love!

The front and back yoke, flutter sleeve and ruffle (on the maxi version) of the Fragola Top & Dress pattern are just right for some color blocking fun.

Between the panels and the ruffles, there are so many options for color blocking both the one piece and the two piece Viridian Swimsuit.

View C of the Azur Reversible Swimsuit is the one you're looking for.  It's designed to be color blocked, although views A, B, and D also offer some fun color blocking options too.

The Reef Beach Rashie has a side stripe for you to play with for your color blocking enjoyment.  Oh, and have fun with a color coordinated zipper too!
