 Continuing our March Madness sewing...today we have a fun throwback look for you!

Audrey used some fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics Checkered line to sew up a mid-century modern inspired outfit!

 She used Houndstooth Onyx premium cotton to make this Friday Dress.

Doesn't this Monet Beret look adorable in Tweed Bubblegum premium cotton fabric?

By using white for the center placket, mandarin collar, waistband and pocket, Audrey transported the Friday Dress pattern to the height of mid-century modern fashion!

This little model's favorite part was getting a photoshoot at a retro train station including inside the cars!

 We have another amazing collaboration with Art Gallery Fabrics to share with you today!

Audrey used rayon, canvas, cotton and knit fabrics to create this fun, colorful outfits for her daughters.  Let's take a closer look at each one.

She used Grassy Meadows Vivid Rayon fabric to sew up a Fragola Dress.  This combination makes such a dramatic maxi dress!

The Fragola has sleeveless and flutter sleeves, but Audrey hacked it to use the tiered Noel Dress sleeves.

Little sister is wearing Degas Dungarees sew up using Nesting Garden Ivory Canvas fabric.  Art Gallery Canvas is SO SOFT and makes great garments!

Underneath the dungarees, she's wearing a Sleep Tight Tee in peachy custard solid knit fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics.  It's the perfect layering piece!

Both girls are wearing head bands made from the Handkerchief Sage and Amber fabrics.

She used the Siren Song Eight in a Knit fabric to make this darling Holly Dress!

Of course this Pineapple Print had to become a Frutta Purse!

Paw-some Eight quilting cotton made the best leaves!

Grab your sunglasses and a cold glass of lemonade and take us to the beach please!

Project Run and Play X Art Gallery Fabrics Honey Fusion

Art Gallery Fabrics recently released their new Honey Fusion line and it is so pretty! Lindsay of PACountryCrafts was able to sew with some of their fabrics for the Honey Fusion Lookbook. 

She made a Haze Dress in this lovely Spring Daisies Honey cotton fabric. The bubble tuck bodice is so pretty!

The back inset on the Haze dress is the perfect place for some hand embroidery! The honeycomb print was just asking for a little hand stitched bumblebee!

Jenny Sews Art Galley Fabrics Gayle Loraine Line

We are kicking off our March Sewing Madness series! The Project Run and Play team has been so busy behind the scenes with miscellaneous sewing projects! For the next few weeks be prepared to be inspired!

 Jenny's looks always blow us away and this one was no exception! 

Art Gallery Fabrics Gayle Loraine fabric line has a beautiful vintage vibe with gorgeous, muted colors.

 

Jenny used the Rocky Shore Tights pattern to make these leggings. She chose the Calico Blooms Print in tan. If you've never tried Art Gallery knit fabrics, you are missing out!!

The top is a Sofiona Designs Caribou (Hacked) using the white linen solid knit. 

Jenny used the lining pieces and added a skirt (width of fabric across the front, width of fabric across the back. She also lengthened the cuffs 2 inches. The big pink bow gives the perfect finishing touch!

Pantone Party: Sincerely, Shantelle X Art Gallery Fabrics

Lakeisha from Sincerely, Shantelle sewed some incredible, classy teen looks for our Viva Magenta Pantone Party! You are going to love this!!!

For this year’s Pantone Party: Viva Magenta, I set out to create looks that encapsulated some of the color’s statement, as well as my daughter’s flourishing personality as she’s moving from childhood into her teenage years. “Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration…” She is not usually one for bright colors, especially pink, but she agreed to give it a try & we found the perfect compromise with some of Art Gallery’s prints and love the looks.

It was my first time sewing with voile and Art Gallery’s was incredible to work with in “A New Grid” for the blouse and pleated skirt. We carried over “A New Grid” and paired it with their “Irregularity Magenta” cotton for her new Van Gogh Bag. The final pullover was created with their jersey knit solids in Hot Pink with accents of Strawberry Kiss, Graphite, and Tin Tin, which were all colors pulled out of A New Grid.

Side note: my kids won’t wear woven tops. They don’t like fussing with buttons or zippers…but my daughter is head over heels in love with this one. Maybe voile will become a new fabric of choice for us ;)

Pantone Party: Made by Kates X Art Gallery Fabric

Katie from Made by Kates is kicking off Week 2 of our Pantone Party! And the looks she created are fantastic! Here is what Katie had to say about her looks!

The Pantone Party is one of our favorite projects to do!  My daughter and I anxiously await the new color each year and we were excited to pick out fabrics in Viva Magenta!  Art Gallery Fabrics never disappoint and they had so many beautiful options.

My daughter has been hinting for a quilted jacket and I knew I could hack the Woodland Wanderer coat into just what she wanted.  Art Gallery is known for gorgeous quilting fabrics so we chose 2 from the Bloom line and quilted the fabrics with a cotton batting. 

We picked out a coordinating knit and rayon for an Evergreen Skirt and Chromium Cropped tee and it’s an outfit she loves!

Pantone Party: Skirt Fixation X Art Gallery Fabrics

 Audrey of Skirt Fixation and Art Gallery Fabrics are here today with inspiration for making Viva Magenta work all year long!  

For this year's Pantone Party, we drew inspiration from 2 different areas.  The 1st is the color Viva Magenta which is seen by some people as closer to a red shade and by some as closer to a pink shade!  When we saw all the pink, red, and Viva Magenta fabrics at Art Gallery Fabrics, we simply had to make a look for each season of the year, and that became the 2nd inspiration for us!   For our spring look, I drafted an ombre ruffle skirt that flows from pink to red down the ruffles.  (Want to know a secret?  This pattern is in development for a future pattern collection!!!)  We used 5 shades of pink and red knit fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics: Crystal Pink, Blush, Sweet Pink, Hot Pink, and True Red.  

Paired with this epic skirt is an Overlook Woven Raglan Top made using Happily Ever After Seven cotton fabric. Do you see where we added Viva Magenta piping to accentuate the shoulder seams?  And we also used the Hot Pink for a knit neckband.

For our summer look, we turned to the Robin Dress pattern.  We combined this luscious Madison Avenue Blaze rayon fabric and used Cactus Flower cotton for the fun pop of pink on the ruffle!  And of course we just HAD style it with a Frutta Purse in Cross & Stitch Raspberry cotton for the photoshoot!

Next comes fall and back to school time!  We made a Blank Canvas Cardigan from Hot Pink knit fabric and Trailblazing Socks from Sweet Pink knit fabric.  That fun dress is a combination of the Parfait Polo and the Multi-Hue Henley, which are mix and match patterns!

We used the collar and puff sleeves from the Parfait Polo and the skater dress from the Multi-Hue Henley pattern!  The sweet fabric is Blooms Field Fresh knit fabric.

And finally our winter look!  Winter is time to snuggle up in some cozy pajamas, so we grabbed the Sweet Dreams Pajama Pants pattern and some Khokhloma One super soft flannel fabric.  We also sewed a Touka Sweater using Sweet Pink and True Red knit fabrics.

And of course we had to make a Still Sleeping Eye Mask from Khokhloma One super soft flannel fabric.  (The pattern is FREE!)  And now it's time for a good long nap after all that sewing!
